if I’m talking about racism I will for goddamn sure use an accusatory tone towards people whose actions support racism or whose words defend it.

it doesn’t matter that

• you “didn’t mean it that way”
• you “didn’t know”
• you think I’m “taking it too personally” 
• you think I’m “overthinking it”
• you think I’m “reading too much into it”
• you don’t understand why I’m mad

you know why?

when people experience racism

• we don’t get a fair warning.
• we don’t get a disclaimer of “you only have to think about this if you’re ready & now’s a good time for you”
• we don’t any kind of apology (99.998% of the time) when we decide that this time we’ve had enough & we’re not gonna put up with it.

and I’m not here to educate you.

• I had to figure most of what I know out on my own
• I had to seek out my own resources from the many many people who have opted to write about these ideas for the education of others
• I am constantly saying things that don’t get taken seriously until a white person says the exact same goddamn thing

but most of all

• because my life is about creating my own comfort, not about catering to yours.

• does my anger make you uncomfortable?
• think of what it must be like to be inundated with so much ignorance that rage is the only answer.
